Therapeutic
Support Staff -
The Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) employee
gives one-on-one support to emotionally disturbed children
or adolescents. The main goals of the TSS are to follow the
treatment plan, help the child/adolescent eliminate
inappropriate behavior(s), provide emotional support to the
child, and assist those responsible for the child in
fostering greater independence and socially responsible
behavior. The TSS will encourage social integration and
participation in group activities. He or she will use
rewards and consequences to achieve goals and will record
data and chart progress of the child/adolescent.

Mobile
Therapists -
The Mobile Therapist (MT)
provides a child or adolescent and his or her family with
intensive therapeutic services in the child’s home, school,
or elsewhere in the child’s community. Psychotherapy
sessions follow a written treatment plan, and they may
include the Mobile Therapist and the child, family members,
child’s friends, school personnel, a community leader,
physician, psychiatrist or a combination of these people.
The Mobile
Therapist can also meet with
these people without the child, as long as “meeting the
child’s needs” is the purpose and focus of the meeting.

Behavioral
Specialist Consultant -
The Behavior Specialist
Consultant (BSC) possesses extremely well-developed social
and written communication skills (including excellent
computer skills), and works at home and in the child’s
school or community. The BSC collects input from the child,
parent(s), school staff, the Mobile Therapist, Therapeutic
Staff Support provider(s), Psychologist, and others to
create a collection of documents that identify the primary
problems to be addressed, who is to address them, how they
are to be addressed, how progress is to be measured, and the
time frame in which treatment is to occur.
Although a treatment plan
must be agreed upon by all members of a child’s interagency
team, it is the responsibility of the Behavior Specialist to
design and develop the treatment plan and to lead the
Interagency Service Planning Team (ISPT).
